first_img1 Ashley Young Ashley Young has ended uncertainty over his future by signing a new contract with Manchester United.The midfielder’s deal had been due to expire next summer and he has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with Tottenham reportedly monitoring his situation.But talkSPORT revealed earlier this month that Louis van Gaal wanted to keep hold of the 30-year-old after he impressed in the Dutchman’s debut campaign at the helm.Now Young has put pen-to-paper on a new three-year contract, with the club holding an option to extend it for a further year.Van Gaal said: “We are delighted that Ashley has signed a new contract. Ashley is a very multi-functional player. He took to the wing-back position with great confidence and flourished on the wing throughout last season.“Ashley is always very professional and has a great presence in the dressing room.”Young, who has made 115 appearances for United since arriving from Aston Villa in 2011, added: “I am delighted to have signed a new contract.“The spirit and motivation amongst this team is very high and we are all determined to make this a season to remember.“All I have ever wanted to do is play football and to be able to continue to do that at the biggest club in the world means everything to me and my family.”last_img read more
