Blow for Southampton as midfield target signs new Feyenoord contract

first_img Jordy Claise 1 Southampton have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Jordy Clasie after the midfielder signed a new contract with Feyenoord.The Saints had reportedly been eyeing a deadline-day swoop for the Dutch international, who made two appearances for his country in their run to the World Cup semi-finals this summer.Ronald Koeman has already purchased two players from the Dutch market during the current transfer window, signing Dusan Tadic for £10.9m from Twente and Graziano Pelle for £8m from Clasie’s club Feyenoord.But, Claise has chosen not to follow in the path of striker Pelle and has elected to stay at De Kuip by signing a new deal until 2018.“I feel I can improve even more at Feyenoord,” Clasie told Feyenoord’s official website.“I have a feeling the team can really start growing and I would like to be a part of it.”last_img read more
