She has a long history of community service, holds a Doctorate, recently completed her 37th year at Occidental College where she is a professor of Kinesiology and Psychology, is a second degree black belt in Shotokan karate, and held numerous leadership positions throughout her career and in her volunteer work, including coaching the Women’s Tennis Team, which won the first NCAA Division III National Tennis Championship.Throughout her life, Mehl has made volunteerism a priority. She joined PSHA eight years ago, served on the Board, including as President, of the Assistance League of Pasadena, worked with the National Leadership Team of Assistance League, was the Occidental’s College Department of Kinesiology Chair and Director of Athletics. While in Michigan she chaired the local Michigan Cancer Society Relay for Life, co-chaired the second largest Christmas parade in Michigan, and was heavily involved in her daughter’s school.“Being able to chair the Pasadena Showcase House of Design is a great honor,” said Mehl. “It brings together my two passions: education and community service. While I’m drawn to athletics as an extra-curricular activity, music is invaluable and working with PSHA gives me an opportunity to promote the importance of music education, while working with a spectacular group of other volunteers.”As Benefit Chair, Mehl will oversee the logistics of the 51st Pasadena Showcase House of Design, ensuring that all aspects of this major undertaking come together to provide visitors with a memorable experience as well as raising money for PSHA’s programs and grants.Mehl has been a member of PSHA since 2006 and has served in leadership positions at the organization including, Interior Co-Chair, Gifts & Grants Chair, Season Tickets Chair, Patrons Chair, Member Ticket Chair, Complimentary Ticket Chair, Gift Certificate Chair and has served on numerous committees including PR/Marketing, and Policies and Procedures.The 2015 Pasadena Showcase House of Design will be open to the public Sunday, April 19 through Sunday May 17, 2015.
