College Basketball Game Cancelled After Player’s Death

The match-up between Hawaii Pacific and TCU was scheduled to take place on Friday, but was cancelled in light of the tragedy.Hawaii Pacific’s Emil Isovic collapsed during a game against Southern Nazarene and never regained consciousness, according to the school.He was 21-years-old.Athletic director Sam Moku released a statement following Isovic’s passing.You may have heard that on Tuesday of last week, HPU student Emil Isovic collapsed during a basketball game against Southern Nazarene. While Emil received the best care possible at Straub Medical Center, he unfortunately did not regain consciousness. We are deeply saddened to share that late this afternoon, Emil passed away. His family, friends, teammates and coaches were at his side. He was 21 years old.We all mourn the loss of Emil, who was both a gifted athlete and a wonderful friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with his parents, Nedzad and Sanela, his brother Dino, and everyone who knew and loved him.TCU released a short statement saying “it was not appropriate to play the game.”Our thoughts are with the Isovic family and Hawaii Pacific community.last_img read more
